Ryan-
Wow-what a story. My mom has already said she plans on signing herself into a assisted living home when it's time, but most likely by then, she won't be able to handle everything herself. Thanks for putting your knowledge out there and offering help-you know I'll come asking when it's time-

Yes ryan good job.

As a former Assiseted Living and Nursing Home Administrator, the stories I hear are often about the poor care and expensive treatment.

To be sure, not all medical facilities have the same operating philosophy
and tend to be driven by the bottom line.

But even the mega companies who are sometimes merciless on achieving occupancy and revenue goals, remain VERY sensitive
to the wants and wishes of caring sons (like you) and daughters.

I could no longer accept the professional challenge that these environ-
ments and companies place on the "front line" staff and elected to
move on. There are however an enormous pool of dedicated and
truly caring individuals that constitute the care-giving network in the
health care industry.

SOMETIMES THEY NEED THE FAMILY'S ASSISTANCE IN PROVIDING THE CARE THEY KNOW IS APPROPRIATE.

Thanks.

Ryan, this is a touching and wonderful testament of your love and your mother's will to live. My parents aren't at this stage yet but I will remember your offer and promise to contact you should I have questions or am just in search of a willing listener. Good luck to you and your family and thank you so much for posting this.

Stacey
